    <<<Period/Story>>>

The kimono that became the basis for this panel is from the early Showa era, a type called black tomesode, a type worn by married ladies.

Black kimono is the most used formal attire for married women, and is worn for formal celebrations such as relatives' weddings.

    <<<Explanation and meaning of pattern>>>

This panel represents pine hand-painting called yuzen. The pine tree lives for long, and longevity is called ``the age of the pine tree'' in Japan, it is also a symbol of perpetual youth and longevity. This pattern is believed to bring luck to its' owner.

Also wisteria is a symbol of longlivety and parenting, with its' brunches spreading over other trees. It also symbolizes productivety because its' flowers look like ears of rice.

<<<Description of the characteristics of the type, weave, and fabric>>>

This panel is made with a technique called hand-painted Yuzen-dyeing. There are two types of yuzen dyeing, “hand-painted yuzen” and “stencil yuzen”. Based on the rough sketch drawn on paper, each brush stroke is colorfully hand-painted onto the white cloth.

The kimono uses golden threads and beaten gold, that makes it a very luxurious item.

    <<<Decoration Advice>>>

The panel can be displayed on a table, etc.

You will need tacks or nails to hang it on the wall.

Because it is light, you can hang it with two ordinary thumbtacks.
